【摘要】:Thesetestmethodsareanintegralpartofexistingteststandardsforcablefirepropagationandcleanroommaterialflammability,aswellas,inanapprovalstandardforconveyorbelting(1-3).3Refs(1-3)usethesetestmethodsbecausefire-test-responseresultsobtainedfromthetestmethodscorrelatewithfirebehaviorduringreal-scalefirepropagationtests,asdiscussedinX1.4TheIgnition,Combustion,orFirePropagationtestmethod,oracombinationthereof,havebeenperformedwithmaterialsandproductscontainingawiderangeofpolymercompositionsandstructures,asdescribedinX1.7.TheFirePropagationtestmethodisdifferentfromthetestmethodsintheASTMstandardslistedin2.1byvirtueofproducinglaboratorymeasurementsofthechemicalheatreleaserateduringupwardfirepropagationandburningonaverticaltestspecimeninnormalair,oxygen-enrichedair,orinoxygen-vitiatedair.Testmethodsfromotherstandards,forexample,TestMethodE1321,whichyieldsmeasurementsduringlateral/horizontalordownwardflamespreadonmaterialsandTestMethodsE906,E1354,andE1623,whichyieldmeasurementsoftherateofheatreleasefrommaterialsfullyinvolvedinflamingcombustion,generallyuseanexternalradiantflux,ratherthantheflamesfromtheburningmaterialitself,tocharacterizefirebehavior.Thesetestmethodsarenotintendedtoberoutinequalitycontroltests.Theyareintendedforevaluationofspecificflammabilitycharacteristicsofmaterials.Materialstobeanalyzedconsistofspecimensfromanend-useproductorthevariouscomponentsusedintheend-useproduct.Resultsfromthelaboratoryproceduresprovideinputtofirepropagationandfiregrowthmodels,riskanalysisstudies,buildingandproductdesigns,andmaterialsresearchanddevelopment.1.1Thisfire-test-responsestandarddeterminesandquantifiessyntheticpolymermaterialflammabilitycharacteristics,relatedtothepropensityofmaterialstosupportfirepropagation,bymeansofafirepropagationapparatus(FPA).Materialflammabilitycharacteristicsthatarequantifiedincludetimetoignition(tign),chemical(Qchem),andconvective(Qc)heatreleaserates,masslossrate(m)andeffectiveheatofcombustion(EHC).1.2Thefollowingtestmethods,capableofbeingperformedseparatelyandindependently,areincludedherein:1.2.1IgnitionTesttodeterminetignforahorizontalspecimen;1.2.2CombustionTesttodetermineQchem,Qc,m,andEHCfromburningofahorizontalspecimen;and,1.2.3FirePropagationTesttodetermineQchemfromburningofaverticalspecimen.1.3DistinguishingfeaturesoftheFPAincludetungsten-quartzexternal,isolatedheaterstoprovidearadiantfluxofupto65kW/m2tothetestspecimen,whichremainsconstantwhetherthesurfaceregressesorexpands;provisionforcombustionorupwardfirepropagationinprescribedflowsofnormalair,airenrichedwithupto40%oxygen,airoxygenvitiated,purenitrogenormixturesofgaseoussuppressionagentswiththeprecedingairmixtures;and,thecapabilityofmeasuringheatreleaseratesandexhaustproductflowsgeneratedduringupwardfirepropagationonaverticaltestspecimen0.305mhigh.1.4TheFPAisusedtoevaluatetheflammabilityofsyntheticpolymermaterialsandproducts.Itisalsodesignedtoobtainthetransientresponseofsuchmateri......
