【摘要】:Theshearstrengthofasaturatedsoilintriaxialcompressiondependsonthestressesapplied,timeofconsolidation,strainrate,andthestresshistoryexperiencedbythesoil.Inthistestmethod,theshearcharacteristicsaremeasuredunderundrainedconditionsandisapplicabletofieldconditionswheresoilsthathavebeenfullyconsolidatedunderonesetofstressesaresubjectedtoachangeinstresswithouttimeforfurtherconsolidationtotakeplace(undrainedcondition),andthefieldstressconditionsaresimilartothoseinthetestmethod.Note18212;Ifthestrengthisrequiredforthecasewherethesoilisnotconsolidatedduringtestingpriortoshear,refertoTestMethodD2850orTestMethodD2166.Usingthepore-waterpressuremeasuredduringthetest,theshearstrengthdeterminedfromthistestmethodcanbeexpressedintermsofeffectivestress.Thisshearstrengthmaybeappliedtofieldconditionswherefulldrainagecanoccur(drainedconditions)orwhereporepressuresinducedbyloadingcanbeestimated,andthefieldstressconditionsaresimilartothoseinthetestmethod.Theshearstrengthdeterminedfromthetestexpressedintermsoftotalstresses(undrainedconditions)oreffectivestresses(drainedconditions)iscommonlyusedinembankmentstabilityanalyses,earthpressurecalculations,andfoundationdesign.Note28212;Notwithstandingthestatementsonprecisionandbiascontainedinthistestmethod.Theprecisionofthistestmethodisdependentonthecompetenceofthepersonnelperformingitandthesuitabilityoftheequipmentandfacilitiesused.AgencieswhichmeetthecriteriaofPracticeD3740aregenerallyconsideredcapableofcompetenttesting.UsersofthistestmethodarecautionedthatcompliancewithPracticeD3740doesnotensurereliabletesting.Reliabletestingdependsonseveralfactors;PracticeD3740providesameansofevaluatingsomeofthosefactors.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofstrengthandstress-strainrelationshipsofacylindricalspecimenofeitheranundisturbedorremoldedsaturatedcohesivesoil.Specimensareisotropicallyconsolidatedandshearedincompressionwithoutdrainageataconstantrateofaxialdeformation(straincontrolled).1.2Thistestmethodprovidesforthecalculationoftotalandeffectivestresses,andaxialcompressionbymeasurementofaxialload,axialdeformation,andpore-waterpressure.1.3ThistestmethodprovidesdatausefulindeterminingstrengthanddeformationpropertiesofcohesivesoilssuchasMohrstrengthenvelopesandYoung''smodulus.Generally,threespecimensaretestedatdifferenteffectiveconsolidationstressestodefineastrengthenvelope.1.4Thedeterminationofstrengthenvelopesandthedevelopmentofrelationshipstoaidininterpretingandevaluatingtestresultsarebeyondthescopeofthistestmethodandmustbeperformedbyaqualified,experiencedprofessional.1.5AllobservedandcalculatedvaluesshallconformtotheguidelinesforsignificantdigitsandroundingestablishedinPracticeD6026.1.5.1Themethodusedtospecifyhowdataarecollected,calculated,orrecordedinthisstandardisnotdirectlyrelatedtotheaccuracytowhichthedatacanbeappliedindesignorotheruses,orboth.Howoneappliestheresultsobtainedusingthisstandardisbeyonditsscope.1.6ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsshallberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsareapproximate.1.7Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.It......
